Luanshya Copper Mines PLC
Instead of extracting dust, this system suppresses it — increasing its weight with microfog so it falls back onto the original material. The estimated saving was alarming: a good $380,000 saved annually. Alongside that, we achieved 112 ppm in dust concentration, comfortably inside the statutory allowable limit of 350 ppm.
The system passed mine safety and Bureau of Standards testing. A 22kW auxiliary Master-Vac unit supports it — picking up spillages, throwing them onto a conveyor, offloading during system faults, and rerouting material to any selected area. It saves around 1 ton of ore daily, previously lost as sweepings, with no downtime needed for housekeeping.
Konkola Copper Mines PLC
Two state-of-the-art vacuum delivery systems, capable of offloading and transferring material of diverse sizes and risks.
The E55 Master-Vac serves the Tailings Leach Plant, offloading powder quick lime and pebble lime, and handling housekeeping. It eliminates the use of an old tippler, conveyors and bucket elevators that were too old to maintain. Replacing all components of the old system would have cost around $1,200,000 — our solution costs a quarter of that, installs without downing tools, and saves as much as $20,000 monthly. Return on investment: about 6 months.
The E75 Master-Vac serves the Smelter Division, coupled with road transport to keep concentrate supply efficient. It eliminates dependence on rail transport and the old tippler, cuts the use of a wasteful front-end loader, and reduces the daily wastage of about 5 tons of concentrate (valued at roughly $1,500). It offloads 75 tons per hour — matched to a 450-ton daily consumption.
Bwana Mkubwa → Kansanshi Mine
LOMA carried out the mechanical demolition of a belt filter plant at Bwana Mkubwa, then transported and re-installed the same plant at Kansanshi Mine in Solwezi — a complete end-to-end mechanical relocation, handled by our own crews.
Mopani Copper Mines — SOB Shaft
Beyond installing a dust suppression system at Mopani's SOB Shaft, we successfully shortened a belt conveyor at the concentrator, and fabricated a diverter chute at our own workshop — a job worth over $150,000, delivered without outsourcing a single component.
